Psalm 23 – The Lord is my Shepherd
Hal’s Revised Version
1LORD, YOU are my Shepherd; (One who cares for the Sheep who are otherwise defenseless) I shall not be in want.
2 You make me to lie down (To Rest) in green pastures: You lead me beside the still waters. (Meaning peaceful places)
3 You restore my soul: You lead me in the paths of righteousness (Your Righteousness) for your Name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through (I don’t stay there) the valley of the shadow (The shadow of a dog never bit anybody) of death, I will not be afraid of evil: for You, Lord are with me and your rod and your staff comfort me.
5 You prepare a table (With Spiritual Food; Your Word) for me in the presence of my enemies. (They can’t stop it) You anoint my head with oil; my cup (Of Blessings) runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Amen!
