On Sep. 11, 2001, “911” happened; the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City were bombed by an Islamic group, Al-Qaeda, killing 2,977 innocent people. American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower at 8:46 a.m., followed by United Airlines Flight 175 hitting the South Tower at 9:03 a.m. Both towers collapsed within two hours, destroying surrounding buildings. Property and infrastructure damage was estimated be from 10 to 13 billion dollars.
The Pentagon Bombing: Arlington, Virginia: American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m., causing partial collapse and significant damage Shanksville, Pennsylvania: United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a rural field after passengers attempted to regain control from the hijackers, preventing the plane from reaching its intended target, believed to be the U.S. Capitol or the White House. This was the horror of “911”!
On 2 May 2011, Osama Bin Laden, the “Mastermind” of 911 was shot and killed by Navy Seal, Robert J. O’Neill. However, his “Lieutenant” Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, is still in prison at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp in Cuba.
My Comments: For some ungodly reason, the DOD at the time of his capture, offered Mohammed a plea deal to remove the death penalty if he would confess to the killing of the 2,977 people! Current Sec of War, Pete Hegseth has recently visited Mohammed, reporting that he is in good health. Sec. Hegseth still wants to administer the death penalty to Mohammed! PS: I am in complete agreement with Sec. Hegseth!
Today, twenty-five years later, Americans in NYC are commemorating this awful tragedy by reading the names of the victims of 911.
As the old song says: “When will we ever learn?”
