Looking Down From Heaven

I recently read a Facebook post from someone who stated that a relative who had recently died was now looking down from heaven to see what was going on. I don’t challenge the statement that people in heaven can look down and see what is going on, but I do challenge the assumption that they know their loved one is in heaven just because they died.

The common false assumption is that everybody goes to heaven, if they are good while on the earth. No, they do not go to heaven just because they are good while on the earth! Neither do they go to heaven if they never missed a church service while on the earth!

There is only one way to get to heaven and Jesus said so! You must believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord! See Romans 10:9,10 –  that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I remember years ago when the Continental Singers came to Grace Chapel led by Rex Kennemer, they sang a great song that had these lyrics in it “Romans 10:9 is a favorite verse of mine”. I loved that song and I still do because it tells The Truth about going to heaven!

There are other scriptures that tell us how to get to heaven such as John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

My main point is that you cannot earn your way to heaven or buy your way to heaven and neither is it automatic that one will go to heaven when you die. There is only One Way and I have just told you The Truth about it!
