Acquiring Greenland

There has been much speculation about America acquiring Greenland, so here is my take on it. So, let me enlighten the uninformed, if possible.
President Donald Trump spoke about acquiring Greenland to international leaders in Davos, Switzerland, Jan. 21, saying he did not plan for the U.S. to take the land by force, but he talked up his tariff-based negotiation strategy, citing Greenland’s strategic position between the U.S., Russia and China as the main reason he wants to acquire the territory.
Trump said that during World War II, “We saved Greenland and successfully prevented our enemies from gaining a foothold in our hemisphere.”
After Germany invaded Denmark, during WW II, the U.S. assumed responsibility for Greenland’s defense and established a military presence on the island that remains today, albeit in diminished scope.
Trump also said, “We gave Greenland back to Denmark.” Then he said, “All the United States is asking for is a place called Greenland, where we had it as a trustee, but respectfully returned it back to Denmark not long ago.
My comments: The uninformed are always against things about which they are ignorant. Then they seldom read articles that oppose their preconceived notions, so they remain uninformed.
