Two people are dead after a shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas this morning, an ICE spokesperson confirmed to NBC News. The three people shot are ICE detainees, an ICE spokesperson told NBC News. No ICE officers were hurt

Two people were killed, and one was wounded Wednesday morning in a shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas, law enforcement officials said. The attacker died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, investigators said at a news conference about four hours after the shooting.

The head of the Dallas F.B.I. field office told reporters that rounds found near the shooter were marked with messages that were “anti-ICE in nature.” Investigators said at the news conference that no law enforcement officers were injured in the attack but declined to answer questions about the victims. Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of homeland security, previously told Fox News that detainees were among the victims.

Law enforcement officials and elected officials shared few details during their news conference and did not give the motivation for the shooting, but they urged an end to rhetoric attacking federal immigration agents. “This needs to stop. Violence is wrong. Politically motivated violence is wrong,” said Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas. “We should not be putting language out there that inspires madmen.”
