Ringing in the New Year – As Told by Oreo the Cat

Ringing in the New Year
As told by Oreo Cat

Christmas is over; there was Joseph and Mary
And no room for them at the Inn
There was Baby Jesus in the Manger;
Found by three Wise Men.

A giant ball is starting to drop, I see
As midnight draws so very near
But what has that to do with me?
What’s New Year’s Eve? It’s not very clear.

Nana has now begun to doze
And Mr. H is already snoring.
There’s a baby in swaddling clothes
“I’ve got to do something. This is boring”.

“Oh, I know! I’ll become Mighty Cat”
“I’ll act scared and run down the hall”
They’ll wonder “What is that?”
“When I jump with my feet up against the wall”

“It’ll make such a sound that they’ll know
I’m the brave one here.
I’m Oreo, Queen of the jungle
I’ll protect you both. Never fear”.

Yes, little Oreo with the gentle squeak,
Has now become a lion; with a mighty roar.
Startling Nana and stopping Mr. H’s snore.
As Mighty Cat recovers near the front door!
